Libya (Libby) was a sweet surprise for us. Her mother, Kenia, was unknowingly pregnant after coming to us from the NM Livestock Board as one of four estrays found abandoned near Cuba, NM. After arriving in August, Kenia started to show her pregnancy, and soon thereafter, Libby was born. She was adopted out in 2023, and due to no fault of her own, was recently returned to us.
Libby is a friendly and affectionate, “in-your-pocket” mare. She greets any human who passes by, gets along well with the other mares in her pen, and has even helped some of our more cautious horses, like Petra, come out of their shell. Libby has good manners on the ground and knows our ground games well. Our trainers are now starting the process of saddle training. Watch this space for more details on this cute mare.
