Star is a showy white Arabian grade mare that has come a long way after being surrendered to us due to the passing of her previous owner. She displays the typical Arabian energy of a horse half her age.
Star is head strong and needs a skilled handler, but she seems the happiest with regular handling. She ties and bathes nicely. She can be persnickety about picking up her feet, but with ongoing work by our volunteers, she has greatly improved. She also loads into a trailer with the help of a calm, firm handler.
Because of her obvious sway back, any riding would be uncomfortable for her and may worsen her condition. That’s why Star is only to be a companion horse. She is a lead mare who all the other horses in our herd look to. She’s been pastured with both mares and geldings but seems to do the best when they are in separate, but adjacent pastures.
