Luna
Grade Mare
Born: 2024
Arrival: March 2026
Ground training to be assessed.
Miracle girl Luna was found dodging traffic along I-40 just east of Albuquerque. It was clear she had been through a terrible ordeal. She suffered severe road rash and other injuries consistent with falling out of a trailer. Sadly, no trailer stopped to claim her. Her story was later highlighted on local TV news.
Eventually law enforcement officers were able to safely capture the terrified and injured filly and transport her to us so she could receive immediate treatment and care. With her new beginning came a new name — Luna — inspired by a lunar eclipse that occurred around the time she was saved.
Even through her injuries, Luna has shown a quiet strength and determination that has touched everyone. She still has a long recovery ahead, but she is finally safe and surrounded by people committed to her healing and her future.
Luna will be assessed by our trainers and will be eligible for adoption once she has time to recover and complete her ground skills training, which includes round pen work, standing for the farrier and trailer loading.
