Katelynn Henderson
Equine Program Manager
Katelynn’s lifelong passion for horses began at just five years old, and by seven she had her first horse, Bob, competing in hunter jumpers. From ages 8 to 18, she competed nationally across multiple disciplines, including dressage, hunter jumpers, equitation, and reining. Along the way, she developed a reputation for working with challenging horses and sale prospects, guided by her belief that no problem is too big to solve with the right approach.
While earning her degree in biology and chemistry at the University of New Mexico, Katelynn continued to expand her horsemanship by working alongside a hunter jumper trainer. It was during this time that she discovered a passion for off-track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs). She went on to create a program focused on retraining and rehabilitating former racehorses for second careers in dressage and jumping, helping them transition successfully into new homes while advocating for the breed.
Today, Katelynn brings that same thoughtful, horse-first philosophy to the ranch, where she is joined by her three OTTBs—Cricket, Kelly, and Bolt. She emphasizes building clear communication and trust rather than relying on quick fixes, believing that most challenges can be resolved by addressing the root cause.
Katelynn joined WNCR in April 2026. We’re thrilled to have her expertise, dedication, and compassion guiding our equine program and helping even more horses find a path to healing and success.
