Holmes was found with his friend, Watson, dumped in the southern New Mexico mountains. Both of these sweet geldings were very underweight and neglected but made great improvements under our care. (Watson has since been adopted.)
Gentleman Holmes is a total love bug who whinnies at passers-by to ask for attention and a good grooming session. We don’t know his back story, but he appears to have been quite active in his younger days, as he has some arthritis in his left front knee.
He demonstrates remarkable kindness and ease in handling. Holmes is great with beginners and would enjoy being a companion to other horses as well as being groomed on by his person. Due to some arthritis in his left front knee, he should not be ridden. He may also require an inexpensive prescription for Cushing’s.
