Edie
Adopted August 2020
Grade Mare
Born: 1995
Arrival: June 2012
Edie is a beautifully unique 25-year-old pinto mare with one brown eye and the other a gorgeous blue! Curious and affectionate, she is very responsive and bonds with people.
Edie has been at the ranch for quite a while because she went through a period of being difficult to halter. But with ongoing attention, she has become quite easy to halter and to work with. She can be a bit co-dependent and, if pastured with other horses, will tend to hide behind them. She has mostly been pastured with other mares, although she would be equally good with an older gelding.
Her co-dependency also leads to people, and she likes to stand close for your support. We have recently taught her to load in the trailer and stand calmly, and she has gotten good about picking up her feet.
Our ranch trainers had started her under saddle, but too much exercise seems to make one of her rear legs stiff. But she has a lot of energy for her age and still loves to run around the pasture. Edie would really be a great pasture pal for an older active horse.
