We don’t get many like this sweet Coco! This healthy mare was surrendered to us due to no fault of her own; her previous owners just lost interest. Coco’s registration papers show she has Storm Cat in her pedigree, and these horses are known for their intelligence and athleticism. Her registered name is Mad Bandit and she started four races in 2012, earning third place in one of the races.
Coco is friendly, craves attention, and would love to have an owner that could do something with her on a regular basis. Though she hasn’t been formally retrained after leaving the racetrack years ago, she has a lot of potential. Under saddle, she has improved, but she still yields more to rein than she does to leg cues. She easily turns on the hind and side passes, but needs work on turning on the fore. She trots and canters well though needs some work to push into the canter. She also stops and backs easily. She’s very soft in the mouth and can be a bit too overreactive. More saddle work would greatly benefit her.
Coco moves with a flat knee, which may catch the eye of hunter/jumper trainers. If you’re looking for a “sweet find,” Coco is your gal!
