Friendly Chama was found running along a road with another horse in northern New Mexico. Neither horse was claimed by an owner, so they came to WNCR. With his sociable, gentle personality, Chama quickly won the hearts of our volunteers. During his time here, he has patiently helped teach our Horse Handling 101 sessions during orientation.
Chama is quite pleasant to handle on the ground, and he stands well for routine farrier care. He is currently working on regaining a healthy weight. After that, our trainers will do a more in-depth assessment of Chama’s level of training on the ground and possibly under saddle. He will be eligible for adoption once we have ensured he can complete basic round pen work and load in a trailer.
