Bonita is a gorgeous 18-year-old registered paint mare who is very patient and calm with our new volunteers. She gives new handlers confidence and horse handling experience without the drama. Those are qualities that can be hard to find in a horse.
Bonita came to us with the end of her ears frozen off, giving her the look of having tiny ears, but it just adds to her beauty. Unfortunately, she has poor bone development in her hooves, possibly from being worked at too young of an age. This means she needs to be shod regularly. Though she’s not a very fast walker, she really likes to take strolls around the ranch.
Bonita has been pastured with both mares and geldings and will put both of them in their place until they know she is in charge. She would certainly make an excellent pasture pal for all aged horses.
