This very affectionate mare was surrendered to us by her owner when her elderly horse companion passed away. Not wanting her to be lonely, Rita’s owner reached out to us to find her a new family.
Rita has successfully lost a few pounds by working in the round pen. She has done a great job at learning ground cues when circling and has become respectful and calm. She likes attention and gets along with other horses well. She has a mild case of Cushing’s and is on an inexpensive daily medication to control it. Exercise and a healthy diet will be important for Rita. Our trainers will begin a saddle skills assessment soon.
