Amador is a healthy, sound Arab and is quite rideable for the experienced person. He gets excited but can be ridden out on the trail with other horses. He has had natural horsemanship ground training. He is easy to groom and good with his feet. He loads readily onto a trailer.

Amber - Mustang
- Born 2000?
Amber was rescued from certain death in the slaughterhouse. She was pregnant and due to deliver when she arrived at the ranch. She gave birth to "Billy" the night she arrived. She is a beautiful chocolate brown feral mustang, currently undergoing training.

Babs - Grade
- Born 1980
Babs was rescued from McIntosh by the Livestock Board. She was starved down to skin and bones when she arrived. After her vet check we discovered that at some time in her life she had a fractured pelvis and now walks with a limp. Sweet mare that needs lots of love and attention.

Ben - Quarter Horse
- Born 2009
My name is Ben and you probably saw a picture of my mom, Jenny on this same website. We came from a home that didn’t do such a good job of taking care of us but that is in the past now and things are really looking good. I am 3 years old now and I have started some training classes with the volunteers here at WNCR. I like this place a lot however I have been told that some day I will be adopted and that I should start looking for that special forever home. So come see me real soon so I can show you how much I already know about being a grown up horse!

Billy - Mustang
- Born 2011
Billy was born on the ranch the night his mother arrivede after being rescued from certain death at the hands of the Mexican slaughterhouses. He is a lively, friendly boy and is currently in training.

Bonita - Reg. Paint
- Born 2003
Bonita was bought at a sale in Belen by previous owners. She was missing her two front teeth. Needs an intermediate rider and was trained to do reining and cow work. However, Bonita has a bone spur on her left front ligament according to the the previous owner that prevented her from being a performance horse. She can only be ridden lightly because of bone and hoof issues.

Bosley - Mustang/Qtr X
- Born 1990
Hello, my name is Bosley but my friends call me Bos. I want to tell you right off that I consider myself a very attractive gelding even at my age (20). I arrived at WNCR in 2008 not really knowing if I would like it here. The folks here continued my riding education and actually sent me to school at the Parelli Center in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. So I guess you could say I have a degree in Parelli ground work and am well started on my master’s degree in riding. Come for a visit and I will tell you more of my history and educational opportunities we could share if you were to be my forever home.

Bubba - Palomino
- Born 1980
Bubba is in great shape for his age. He can still do some light riding but needs an experienced rider. Bubba is nice but he is somewhat herd-bound. He is a terrific prospect for someone who wants to learn basic or geriatric horse care.

Buffy - Grade
- Born 1990
This 20 year old grade mare came from McIntosh with Babs and was not quite as starved. However, she also has an old injury to her right hind leg that causes her some pain at times. She is shy around people and needs more encouragement to interact with volunteers.

Cash - Thoroughbred
- Born 1996
If I could tell you in words about my past I would but since the staff personnel who types up these stories doesn’t speak any horse language and I don’t speak any human language then we will just have to keep my past a secret. I do come from the Socorro area and I am a 14 year old TB gelding who is quite good looking, that much everyone knows. I have heard my volunteer staff that cares for me saying such things as ‘all he needs is time under the saddle’ and ‘a few good trail rides and he will be a terrific trail horse’. All those things sound like fun to me so why doesn’t one of you come for a visit and let’s learn how to ride trails and go on picnics? Hope to see you soon!

Catmandu - Grade
- Born 1981 +/-
Catmandu is a wonderful pasture pal. He is being treated for Cushings Disease and needs meds. He is friendly and very easy to groom

Danica - Grade
- Born 2009
Like, what’s a girl suppose to do to get some ME time around here. Volunteers everywhere, picking up my feet, grooming my mane and tail, asking me to get on those big horse trailers, like, I don’t have time for a good beauty nap. Oh well, I have a great name though, Danica is what they call me here, after the race care driver Danica Patrick. Don’t you just love it! Like, I’m not sure I ever want to leave here but they told me someday I would go to my new forever home. I am also one year old now and I think I should be able to choose my new family. So like, YOU should come visit one day and WE should do lunch. What do you think?

Dizzy - Grade Mare
- Born 1990
Dizzy could no longer be cared for by her owners so was brought to WNCR for evaluation and training in hopes of finding a new home. She is very sweet. Ridable.

Feather - Quarter Horse
- Born 1982
Feather the rope horse, that is what they call me. I am from a ranch out near Clovis and I have spent most of my life chasing cows. I now have a sore knee and a sore fetlock along with a cataract in my left eye. BUT I still love to be ridden around the arena at a walk or light trot and I just loved to be groomed. Anyone out there looking for an ole fellow to spend some quality time with once in awhile? If I could talk I could tell ya lots of fun stories! Come for a visit!

Georgia - Grade
- Born 2001
Brought in by the Livestock Board from a hoarding siutation. She is a gray grade mare, and was born in 2005. Spirited, bright-eyed and inquisitive. Currently in training, needs an experienced rider.

Ginny - Reg. half Arabian
- Born 1986
Oh Hello, didn’t know they were going to take a picture of me so soon otherwise I would have insisted they groom me first. My name is Ginny and I am in my mid twenties. I have been a trail or arena riding horse most of my life. The reason I am at WNCR is that my last owner was deployed overseas and of course they wouldn’t let me go along. What I really need now is someone who is into grooming horses, short trail rides and long naps on warm summer days so if you fit into that category perhaps you can be my new forever home. Come on over for a visit.

Holly - Grade
- Born 2006
Hi All, Remember me from a couple of years ago? I came to WNCR as a three day old foal that had been chewed on by dogs and abandon by my mother? And remember I am named after Holly Holms the boxer and she came out to the ranch to meet me? Well I am back at the ranch and looking for a forever home. I do have some training and have been ridden alittle bit but I need lots more and would love to find that special someone to spend the rest of my life with. So please come for a visit and lets talk about the future!!!

Isabelle - Quarter Horse
- Born 1990
Isabelle has that youthful look…she is actually 20 according to the vet but looks only 7 or 8 years old. Coming from an abusive situation she still doesn't trust people so she keeps her distance when she sees a halter. However a few cookies and kind words wins her over and she comes quietly. She has been saddled and walked in a round pen but she still needs work before she can be a reliable trail partner. She just needs someone to trust and then she will give her heart to that someone.

Jake II - TB
- Born 1982
And they're OFF.....those are the words I use to hear quite often in my career as a racehorse. Thank goodness those days are past and I am able to just relax and enjoy life. Those hard days on the track caused my knees to go bad way before I was ready to stop riding and doing things. Nows days I am just looking for a place to hang out and keep younger horses company and maybe help them learn a thing or two about life. Need a good babysitter at your house?

Jenny - Quarter Horse
- Born 1998
My sister Junebug and I were in the worst situation when we were taken by the Livestock Board to a Vet clinic that literally saved our lives and the lives of our colts, Ben and Jerry. Once we arrived at WNCR things really started to look up and now, well, things just couldn't be better. Well that isn't really true, I do need to find a forever home. Why don't you come by for a visit and learn more about me. See ya soon!!

Lady Dai - Morgan/Arab Cross
- Born 2000
The owners could no longer care for this spirited beauty, so she was brought to WNCR, together wih her stable mate Shadia. She is sweet and affectionate. Currently undergoing training, she needs an experienced rider.

Lucky - Grade
- Born 2007
Well, do I look Lucky to you? Your answer should be yes, cause I am Lucky in more ways than one. My name is Lucky and I am lucky to have landed here at WNCR. My story is like a lot of other young horses that folks have good intentions of caring for but just don’t really understand what it takes to care for untrained and untouchable horses. I am almost 3 years old now and really haven’t had close contact with you humans. I am wearing a halter now and learning that it isn't be bad to be lead around so I am on my way to being a good horse for someone lucky person. The folks here at WNCR have been very understanding and kind to me. However, I am going to keep my eyes open for a lucky forever home, do you have one of those?

Marty - Thoroughbred
- Born 1996
You might be just the person to give this former race horse a new lease on life! Marty is a beauty. He has bad knees from his racing days but would make a wonderful non-riding companion horse.

Mooney - Grade
- Born 1990
Hi my name is Mooney, well that is just my nickname. My real QH Appendix registered name is Dancing Moonbug. My great granddad was Native Dancer so I am some what related to another horse here on the ranch named Major. I just had a birthday too, April 3. I turned 20 years old. Funny how time flies, it seems like yesterday I was chasing cows and giving riding lessons to beginners. I can tell I am getting older too; my feet are starting to give me trouble if I don’t wear shoes on my front feet. Anyway, I am still good looking and I would love to hang out with you at your house for the rest of my life. Come for a visit and lets see what we can work out!

Opal - Quarter Horse
- Born 1983
OPAL is a 30 + year old grade quarter horse mare, very gentle, easy going, just needs a little love, attention and work.

Pintura - Reg. Paso Fino
- Born 1996
Pintura: a registered 14 year old Paso Fino mare that was originally adopted from our ranch in 2006. Due to medical reasons at home the previous owner found it necessary to return Pintura to the ranch. She is a very sweet high energy horse that will need an experienced handler and rider.

Rain - Quarter Horse
- Born 2008
Rain was living with a wonderful family to whom she had been given. They had no idea how to care for her so agreed to give her to WNCR so that she could receive the proper training and be placed in a good home. She is exceptionally affectionate and is currently in training.

Rocky - Quarter Horse
- Born 1978
Rocky is a bomb-proof horse, though he cannot be ridden due to arthritis. He'd be perfect for a child to learn ground horsemanship skills.

Rosie - Thoroughbred
- Born 1992
Rosie is a beautiful 20 year old TB mare who is returning to WNCR after being adopted 1 1/2 years ago. She was previously rescued from a breeding farm. This sweet lovable mare whose days as a racehorse and brood mare are a thing of the past, is ready to hit the trail as a riding companion for some lucky horse lover. Rosie has been thru Level I training in the Parelli Natural Horsemanship Program and has done lots of arena work. Come visit with her and see what you think.

Ruby - Donkey
- Born 1998
Okay so you have probably already read the story behind my two friends, Jakester and Red Appy, so I won't go into alot of detail about our previous home however you do need to know a little bit about me. I am after all a Donkey and as such I am very particular about things around me. First of All you don't touch my feet unless we first do the little donkey dance and I determine that you do know what you are doing with delicate donkey feet. Then we can move on to grooming and eating treats which by the way I am very fond of. I don't let just anyone catch me either, you must first prove yourself worthy of my attention. So now that we have all that cleared up why don't you come for a visit and we can see if you measure up to MY standards...thank you!

Shelby - Mustang
- Born 2003
Shelby has lived the last few years of her life confined to a stall and small pen, receiving the basics to survive physically but without human attention. We're told she is rideable, but before we ask that of her, we will work to re-establish her trust in people.

Strawberry - Grade
- Born 2000?
Strawberry was rescued from an abusive situation and is flourishing at the ranch. She is very wary and is currently undergoing training
